Dr. Raziel “Raz” Velgis

Raziel Velgis is a dedicated periodontist from El Paso, Texas, with a strong commitment to exceptional patient care. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology (B.S.) and Chemistry (B.A.) from Arkansas State UniversityClick to open in new tab in 2015, where he also played collegiate football.

Dr. Velgis went on to complete his dental training at Indiana University School of Dentistry,Click to open in new tab earning his DDS in 2021. During dental school, he developed a deep interest in the complexities of periodontics and implant dentistry, which led him to pursue advanced specialty training.

Following graduation, he remained at Indiana University to complete a rigorous three-year residency in Periodontology. His advanced training has made him highly skilled in procedures such as soft tissue grafting, full-mouth implant rehabilitation, immediate and esthetic zone implants, ridge and sinus augmentation, periodontal regeneration, and both traditional and laser-assisted periodontal surgery.

In 2024, Dr. Velgis earned his Master of Science in Dentistry and Periodontics after successfully defending his thesis on the innovative use of biologic agents during different healing phases to enhance periodontal regeneration. Currently, Dr. Velgis is in the process of becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Velgis is dedicated to treating patients with honesty, respect, and professionalism, while delivering the highest standard of periodontal and implant care. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Katey, and their dog, Sophie, as well as golfing, playing pickleball, and visiting the beach.
